Customer Service Associate Job Description - Full Time or Part Time
Ravenna Gardens is a local, woman owned garden & home store located in Seattle's University Village. Our inclusive store is focused on enriching people's lives through plants and creative living spaces. Our team prides itself on providing excellent customer service as well as creating an environment that is inspirational & welcoming to customers & employees alike.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person with a creative eye to join our team! Are you outgoing, plant knowledgeable & flexible? If helping folks create the plantscapes of their dreams while working with an optimistic & encouraging team appeals to you, we may just have what you’re looking for.
Job Requirements:
Customer Service:
- Possess the ability and willingness to discuss plants & help customers find the perfect plants & containers for their space; Assist customers in creatively bringing the outdoors inside to achieve the interior jungle of their hearts desire; Connect and listen to customers to serve their needs; Maintain a working knowledge of inventory (plants, pots, home goods); Easily work with several customers skillfully at once.
Plant Knowledge:
- Know the Latin and common names of the plants we carry; Know the basics of plant physiology
- Retail nursery experience helpful. Understand and have experience with plants’ cultural requirements including watering, common pests/diseases & general plant care.
Scheduling:
- Must be able to work Sunday-Thursday 12:30pm-8:30pm for full time.
- Must be able to work evenings and one weekend day & for part time.
Everyday Responsibilities:
- Sales: Offer exceptional customer service to all folks while promoting a positive & supportive work environment.
- Flexibility with your assignments: Come prepared and eager to support your teammates in whatever the needs of the store require each day. I.E. One day you may be asked to work inside, helping customers and caring for houseplants' needs, and the next day, the greatest need might be outside, where you'll be asked to help water and put plant deliveries away, etc.
- Plant Health: Minimize losses by appropriately taking care of our plant material. Watering, grooming and general maintenance. Attention to detail.
- Follow Direction: Work closely with other team members and store managers to ensure a successful experience for our guests. Possess the ability to work autonomously, once given direction.
- Knowledge of Store Operations: The ability to learn & work with our point-of-sale system, as well as learning and completing daily tasks while always following store policy.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to focus on repetitive tasks such as pricing, watering, & moving flats of plants; Have the strength to lift 50lbs with minimal help.
Salary- D.O.E
20-40 hours per week
